The harmony and melody of ‘The Mission’ was conceived with a theme kind of feeling in mind. Something that could repeat over and over and build as it goes, telling its story through subtle shifts and movement. The horns take the melody and it evolves as I build the synths and beats and end up sampling everything that’s going on live on the fly to flip it to a head nod beat. - Hip hop has always been a huge love of mine and one of my favorite unsung hip hop heroes is MC John Robinson. John has been a resident guest at CHURCH NYC since the clubnite launched there, so it made sense to have him feature on the record. He’s an amazing storyteller, so I asked him to tell the story of CHURCH on this track. Aural liner notes for a digital generation…
