Tide's Arising was MdCL's full length follow up to 2000's Six Degrees. Since Six Degrees, Mark remixed numerous artists featuring on the first Verve Remix album and releasing the live improvised project Freesoul Sessions and the compilation Melodious Beats vol.1 featuring his collaborations with Restless Soul, Ovasoul7 and his UK dancefloor classic "Relax...Unwind" with Abdul Shyllon. These tracks all lay the blueprint for this critically acclaimed album. "Tide's Arising" was released on ABB Soul and Columbia Japan and showcased Mark as a producer with an almost full vocal album with guests Abdul Shyllon, mainstay UK collaborator Bembe Segue, Lain Gray, Lyric L and Vanessa Freeman as well as musicians including PIno Palladino, Nathan Haines, Kaidi Tatham (manning the Moog bass on "Quintessential") and master percussionist Miguel Fuentes.
