Available for the first time ever on download/digital, "Journey 2 the Light" was Mark's album for boutique Japanese label Freedom School released in 2007. The label invited Mark to create his vision of a spiritual jazz album. Since cementing their collaborative relationship on 2005's "Tide's Arising", Bembe Segue and Mark had become regular collaborators and their chemistry together is a large part of the spirit of this album - also featuring Richard Spaven, Sammy Figueroa, Jason Yarde and guest flute from Joni Love. An undiscovered gem of an album that provides an interesting preview to what was to come a decade later with Mark's jazz projects coming out of his LA homebase.

We turned on to Emma Jean at Monterey Jazz Fest, and she's the reason I went from 'ehhh I'm not sure I like Acid Jazz and I sure as hell don't like fusion" to "what the hell is *this awesome galactic brilliance?!* A rare talent and a damn fine slab of wax that I have on heavy rotation.
